My work explores the intersection of personal memory and collective history.
During my academic year 2023/2024 at the Hamburger Werkstattfotografie I started my project The Flood which traces the emotional and historical residues of the Great Hamburg Flood of 1962. This work continues the exploration I began in my earlier series Haymat Wilhelmsburg created in the 2021/2022 Masterclass with Andreas Herzau at FREELENS Hamburg.
With my collaborative project DEUTSCHLANDWEIT 49/58/63 I embark on a subjective documentary journey through Germany - using only regional public transport. The central question driving the project: What does Home mean today? Excerpts of my work have been already shown at the exhibitions "Zeigen was ist" and "Bildbotschaften" of LAIF Foundation in Hamburg 2025.
Together with Oliver Jockers, our collaborative project Der Grüne Ring unter Druck — a photographic-documentary investigation of a changing urban living space — was shortlisted for the Georg Koppmann Prize 2026.
From April 2026, I will start a new project "Geestholm", exploring places close to Hamburg below sea level in times of rising sea levels as part of an academic year at the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie.
My photographs have been recognized in several competitions, printed in magazins and exhibited internationally. Beyond my own practice, I am an active member of various photography groups, where I have contributed to organizing photo festivals, curating group exhibitions, and guiding exhibition tours in both German and English.
In workshops with Siegfried Hansen, Mark Power and Matt Stuart, I was able to experience how transformative it can be to engage deeply with a photographer whose vision challenges your own. In terms of content, I would like to connect my often outward-looking documentary photography more strongly with the feelings that come from within me.I want my photographs to carry my political meaning without reducing the world in front of the lens to a statement.
